Thirsty for the Limelight is a musical comedy bursting at the seams with innovative puppetry, original live music, and razor-sharp wit. The saga follows Esmerelda, a washed-up cabaret diva from yesteryear, who is thirsty for another round of fame. However, this arduous task will bring Esmerelda deep into the fiery land of Showbizz. With the support of her resourceful guide, Shmiza Shminnelli, Esmerelda encounters hordes of hopefuls also seeking fame and fortune: a TikTok chef, a pirate stand-up comedian, and an avant-garde artist. In order to reach the sacred limelight, Esmerelda must face off against the ruler of Showbizz and the devil herself… Anne Ziety! Will Esmerelda make it to the top, or will she fade into obscurity like so many others who have attempted this difficult quest?
Thirsty for the Limelight has showcased at the New Orleans Giant Puppet Festival, Electric Forest Music Festival, Planet Ant Theater in Detroit, and several sold-out venues in Los Angeles including The Lyric Hyperion Theater, The Cat’s Crawl, and The Brewery Art Lofts. While this theatrical puppet spectacle is motivational, moving, and hilarious as hell, it’s geared for more mature audiences – so leave the kids at home.
