In several ways, this upcoming exposé into the vibrant world of Tehrangeles (Tehran + Los Angeles) deserves to be a lot longer than just a 12-track vinyl compilation, which is why Discotchari is dedicating a full night to playing all of their favorite synth pop, disco, new wave, electro, 6/8, house, techno, and other infectious dance grooves produced by the LA Persian community from the ‘80s to the ‘00s. Be prepared to dance like never before, and come ready to experience a full immersion of cultural fusion.
Opening the night for Discotchari will be KCRW resident Nassir Nassirzadeh, who will be warming up the dance floor with some pre-revolution Iranian and Tehrangeles selections he personally grew up with and danced to over decades of mehmoonis (“Persian parties”).
