Moving Image Artspresents SIGHT + SOUND + SOUL: Vol. 1, the inaugural installment of an ongoing experimental, multimedia series bringing together diverse artistic mediums and creative communities from across Los Angeles.
For our first edition, we're embracing the strange, surreal, and unexpected with a special Friday the 13th experience that transforms the performance space into a living, evolving audiovisual environment.
Poet, DJ, and VJ come together in an improvisational, jazz-inspired exchange of language, rhythm, sound, and imagery. Spoken word, live-mixed and manipulated music, and responsive visuals collide, converse, and transform in real time, with each artist responding organically to the others.
And the experience doesn't stop at the stage.
Immersive projections spill across the room and onto the audience itself, blurring the boundaries between performer, environment, and spectator. The entire space becomes part of the performance, surrounding guests with shifting images, atmospheric sound, and unexpected visual encounters.
Drawing inspiration from the superstitious, uncanny, macabre, and wonderfully weird spirit of Friday the 13th, the evening invites artists and audiences into a shared exploration of the mysterious and unpredictable.
Part poetry reading, part audiovisual performance, part collective experiment, SIGHT + SOUND + SOUL: Vol. 1 celebrates spontaneity, artistic collaboration, and the possibilities that emerge when different creative disciplines collide.
No two moments will unfold quite the same way. That's the point.
The evening also features open mic performances, with emerging voices woven throughout the featured poetry program, expanding the creative exchange and bringing new perspectives into the room. Sign up to be considered for our open mic HERE.
As the poetry concludes, the evening transitions into a closing DJ/VJ dance party, carrying the night's energy into a final celebration of music, movement, and immersive visuals.
Whether you're a poetry lover, a music obsessive, an experimental art enthusiast, or simply looking for something unusual to do on Friday the 13th become part of a shared experience that can only happen LIVE!
