Join us for another night of film and music on the magical rooftop of Petit Ermitage Hotel hosted by Darby Gaëlle Hannon, BLKBRD Films, and Cheshire Moon Productions.
Doors open at 7pm. Music will start by 7:30pm sharp and seating is limited. The film screening will start at 8:15pm followed by a Q&A with the filmmakers.
Our musician tonight will be Alex Lilly. Alex Lilly is a songwriter and performing artist who’s toured with Beck, the bird and the bee, Ry Cooder and Nick Lowe, and moonlighted with Lorde, Sia and the Foo Fighters. Through the years she’s also released her own albums, garnering praise from the New York Times: “Lilly’s songs are full of musicianly gamesmanship…they use hopscotching melody lines, shifty meters, subtly intricate counterpoint and spongy, unconventional synthesizer tones. But Lilly isn’t just showing off. Her convolutions also tell stories.”
Tonight's film will be Lightworkers ; a 2026 political documentary directed by Bobby Roth that explores civic action, democracy, and what ordinary individuals can do to fight fascism and protect democratic institutions.
Our special guest tonight will be the documentary's writer/director Bobby Roth. Roth is an acclaimed writer, director, and producer whose career spans over four decades in film and television. A Los Angeles native, he studied literature and creative writing at UC Berkeley before earning a BA in Cinema from USC and an MFA in Motion Picture Production from UCLA. Roth has written, directed, and produced sixteen independent feature films, including Heartbreakers, The Man Inside, Jack the Dog, Berkeley, and Pearl, which have screened at major international festivals such as Berlin, Toronto, and Sundance. In television, he has directed more than 100 episodes of network series, including Lost, Prison Break, Grey’s Anatomy, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., The Mentalist, and Criminal Minds. A founding member of the Independent Feature Project and former Co-Chair of the Directors Guild of America’s Independent Feature Committee, Roth has also taught filmmaking around the world. Known for work grounded in emotional depth and moral complexity, he continues to create films that explore the human condition and the power of storytelling.
