A car-free afternoon of connection & city-side nature: Hike, Picnic, & Journaling
This weekend will be in the 80's and sunny, clear skies followed by overcast weather in the 60s next week. I wanted to take advantage of the last remnants of Summer weather w/ a community event.
We'll be meeting at the Culver City Metro station (8817 Washington Boulevard Culver City, California) 10am, then walking 5mins to the iconic Helms Bakery to pick up food for a picnic (they have pre-made sandwiches, pastries and more) then we'll walk back to Culver City and hop on the train to La Cienega/Jefferson station (just one stop away), then from La Cienega/Jefferson station we'll take one of my favorite Metro hidden gems "The Link"; which drops us off at another one of my favorite hidden gems Kenneth Hahn Park.
If you aren't familiar; Kenneth Hahn Park is a 401-acre state park nestled between Baldwin Hills and Culver City. A beautiful, spralling, large green space with hiking trails, gardens, and even a lake. Truly a city-side nature gem!
We'll do an easy hike/walk around Kenneth Park, have a picnic, do some gratitude journaling exercises and community sharing.
This will be a fun & wholesome day.
Also, you can just meet us at Kenneth Hahn if you prefer. But it's actually cheaper to take the Metro through. Parking at Kenneth Hahn is $10. But the Metro Rail from Culver City to the La Cienega/Jefferson station is only $1.75 and the "The Link" to the park only costs 25 cents. Plus as someone who is car-less in the city I really do want to help spread more car-less activities. I feel like taking the Metro just makes me feel more connected to the city and to my surroundings. Plus I think taking the Metro together as a group will be a cool experience.
ALSO, if you don't live near a Metro Station; the Culver City has a park & ride station, so you can park your car there for $3.

Breakdown of Event:
10:00am Meet at Culver City Metro Station > Helms Bakery for coffee & to-go picnic foods > 10:30am Metro ride to La Cienega/Jefferson > The Link Shuttle to Kenneth Hahn Park > Hike/Nature Walk/Picnic/Journaling/Sharing 11am - 1:30pm > Head back to Culver City Station, arriving around 2pm.
Bring water, sunscreen, picnic blanket, journal; & if you choose not to get food at Helms bring your own picnic/snacks.
