ZEBULON x GERALD JACKSON is a collaboration with Parker Gallery and their show, Gerald Jackson: The Rooftop Paintings at 255 Bowery, opening Friday June 12, 600-800p with a reception at Parker Gallery (6700 Melrose Ave, ph 323-284-8665), and running through August 15. In the golden haze of an ’80s summer afternoon, outsider artist Gerald Jackson transformed his rooftop into a stage. With the still-new Twin Towers dominating the horizon behind him, the artist danced freely among the skylights and TV antennas, tripping the light fantastic. A collection of Gerald's poetry will be published for the occasion in a limited edition zine, available exclusively at Parker Gallery and Zebulon.
Presented in conjunction with Parker Gallery and their show, Gerald Jackson: The Rooftop Paintings at 255 Bowery:
In the golden haze of an ’80s summer afternoon, high above 255 Bowery, Gerald Jackson transformed his rooftop into a stage. With the still-new Twin Towers dominating the horizon behind him, the artist danced freely among the skylights and TV antennas. Parker Gallery is thrilled to announce an exhibition of historic works, opening June 12, 2026, focusing on four paintings made following this rooftop reverie, inspired by photographs of Gerald, tripping the light fantastic. For more than 40 years, Jackson lived and worked in a raw commercial loft on the Bowery, a space that shaped his boundless creativity. These rarely exhibited works offer a new perspective into Jackson’s expansive practice. A collection of the artist's poetry and photography will be published for the occasion in a limited edition zine, available exclusively at Parker Gallery and at Zebulon.
