Damaged Disco presents I Speak Machine / Cruel Diagonals

Join us on Thursday, June 27 as Damaged Disco presents I Speak Machine with Cruel Diagonals at Gold-Diggers!

In addition to our regular free Tuesday Damaged Disco night, we are pleased to welcome back I Speak Machine along with Cruel Diagonals for this special ticketed event.

I Speak Machine is a multimedia collaboration between musician/performer Tara Busch and filmmaker Maf Lewis. The duo has earned a devoted fan base touring with legends Gary Numan and L7, along with industrial music heavyweights Curse Mackey & SINE. Tara’s unique stage persona and performance was carefully conceived as an extension of the subject matter and artistic design of I Speak Machine’s album War and the single Bring Me The Girl. Their explosive live show reflects the intense anger & beauty of the music, while keeping its darkly tongue-in-cheek undercurrents intact.

"Ever-so-rarely an artist comes along to stir your subconscious and redefine the unconventional. I Speak Machine—the experimental music and audio-visual project of Tara Busch and Maf Lewis–is here to show us the way" - Liza Lentini, SPIN MAGAZINE

Surrealist sound sorcerer Cruel Diagonals (aka Megan Mitchell) has been creating critically acclaimed experimental electronic music and intriguing visuals Since 2016. Her debut album Disambiguation (Drawing Room) earned rave reviews in The Wire, Pitchfork, and NPR and led to mesmerizing, riveting performances at festivals such as Desert Daze and MUTEK.SF along with U.S. and European tours. Cruel Diagonals' sublime live performances combine a minimal gear setup and abstract visuals with an instinctual adventurousness that favors a fluidity of tones over the grid-like modes of much electronic music.

“The electronic music Megan Mitchell (aka Cruel Diagonals) makes has the power of a volcanic eruption, bubbling up from unimaginable depths into the atmosphere.” - Bandcamp Daily
