Charlie Hickey is an LA based artist, writer, and producer. Since his debut EP Count The Stairs, released on Phoebe Bridgers’s Saddest Factory Records, Charlie has been silencing rooms with a brutally plain spoken but ethereal style of storytelling, an undeniable pop sensibility and a raw vocal soul. Charlie’s music has profoundly spoken to a dedicated fan base as well as an eclectic group of artists/peers who have championed him and taken him on tour (Bridgers, Muna, Samia, The Milk Carton Kids, Jeremy Zucker).
After parting ways with Saddest Factory Records and spending a year in the studio, Charlie partnered with Jonathan Rado (The Killers, Father John Misty, Weyes Blood) to create a body of work that features the storytelling he is known for while boasting a timeless (retro at times) pop perfection juxtaposed with a rough around
the edges sonic pallete, recalling Fleetwood Mac’s weirder moments. With a diverse array of contributions from writers Steph Jones (Espresso), Bulow (Texas hold ‘em), guitarist Meg Duffy (Hand Habits), folk duo The Milk Carton Kids and singer/songwriter Lennon
Stella, an air of reckless and fun experimentation is present.
In addition to the collaborators on his upcoming body of work, Charlie
has had a fruitful year of collaboration as a co-writer for contemporaries like Madi Diaz, Allison Ponthier, Samia, and others.
