Recorded 50 years ago this month with a stellar quartet that included Pharoah Sanders and Joe Henderson, Alice Coltrane’s bluesy, minimalist, spiritual jazz classic, “Ptah, The El Daoud” is an often overlooked gem in Alice’s canon. Out of print since the early seventies, this album is even hard to track down on vinyl - and has only been heard widespread by fans on CD for decades.
